Patrick McCabe and Scott Hare
vow commitment to each other
Patrick A. McCabe and Scott C. Hare expressed their commitment to each other and the gay community in front of many friends and family on Saturday, August 29 at the Unitarian Society of Cleveland. Bruce Horn, who is a good friend of the couple and a Center board member, presided over the 3:00p.m. ceremony. Several of their friends participated in the ceremony by reading a poem, sharing thoughts and singing "Somewhere."
During their expression of dedication to the gay community, Patrick and Scott lit six colored candles representing the gay liberation rainbow flag. The couple, along with both their mothers, received their guests and served cassata cake and coffee after the ceremony downstairs in the church's community room.
Patrick McCabe is a registered nurse employed in home health care nursing in Cleveland. Born in Mentor, Ohio, he relo-
cated to Cleveland Heights in 1990. Patrick has volunteered for several organizations including the Center's Maryann Finegan Project, HIT, Pride, and the Chronicle's benefit committee.
Scott Hare is a computer programmer/ analyst with an insurance company in Mayfield Heights. Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, he relocated to Cleveland Heights in 1986, after living on the campus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland during his four years of undergraduate study. Scott has also volunteered for numerous organizations including the Center, HIT, Pride, Project: LEARN, Society for the Blind and as associate editor of the Chronicle.
The couple, who are members of Monotones and regular attendees of Board Games Night at the Center plan to continue apartment living in Cleveland Heights and to eventually buy a home together in the
area.
